Entry #1: A moment to say hello

Before we get started on this trip together, I think it's appropriate to introduce myself. My name is Jeremy, but everyone just calls me J. I actually hear my name so rarely that it feels foreign. I've recently taken a rather drastic turn in my life, so everything is changing pretty fast. That's part of what I want to talk about here. Dealing with those moments and choices in our lives that have a profound effect on us. Navigating the unexpected has taken a massive toll on my progress in life. Hopefully I can give some insight or support to anyone else dealing with a similar flux in their life.

Despite all the changes, I think it's still important to hold on to the things we enjoy. Those are the bits that help us through the roughest parts. For me that's gaming and taking care of animals. The gaming influences much of many of my viewpoints on life and gives reference to understand how things connect in life. Thus the name of this blog. However, my real passion is animals.

I've been doing rescue and rehabilitation of various critters most of my life. I volunteered at an animal rescue for the first time when I was eight. Since then, taking care of animals that cant take care of themselves has been a constant presence in my life. Especially when they suffer because someone made a bad decision.

That has now turned into my life's purpose as I'm striving to get my degree in veterinary medicine. It makes sense when you look at my past. Except, I've spent most of my professional life in IT related jobs. Two years ago I was studying for my A+ certification. Now I'm in college for the first time, which is shocking since I graduated more than 20 years ago.

I've always known life is full of twists and turns, but it's still hard to navigate them when they come at you from nowhere. Thankfully, I think we can manage some progress if we work out what works and why. I hope some part of what I have here helps you get through your chaos. If not, then at least you can know you're not alone.

I wish you the best of luck with your college and professional life.
